Pulled the tab, but the ball won't light up?
Good news: your Lightro almost certainly isn't broken. Sometimes the "Pull to Play" tab tears where it enters the battery compartment, leaving a small piece of plastic still blocking the batteries. Remove that piece and your ball will work perfectly.
-
Push out the LED module.
Your football has two holes — one small, one big. Insert a pen or screwdriver into the small hole and push until the LED module slides out the big side.
-
Remove the leftover plastic piece.
Look at the slot where the tab went into the battery compartment. Pick out the small strip of plastic still inside (tweezers help).
-
Tap to test, then reinsert.
Give the module a firm tap — the LEDs should flash. Slide it back into the big hole and press until it can't go any further.
All you need: a pen or screwdriver, and about a minute.
Replacing the batteries
Your Lightro Classic runs on 3× A76 (LR44) alkaline batteries — available at any drugstore. Replacement is an adult job:
-
Push out the LED module
Insert a screwdriver or pen into the small hole and push the module out.
-
Open the battery lid.
Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the small screw and lift off the lid.
-
Insert 3 fresh A76/LR44 batteries.
The positive (flat) side must face the screw hole. If they're in backwards, it won't light.
-
Close it up and test.
Screw the lid back on, give the module a gentle tap to confirm the LEDs flash, then press it back into the large hole until fully seated.
How does the glow work?
The Lightro lights up from the inside using super-bright LEDs (batteries included) — it's not a charge-in-sunlight glow material. Once the pull tab is fully removed, any small impact turns the lights on: throw it, catch it, bounce it, and it glows brilliantly at night.
